Review Process
A correction request is evaluated against the article’s sources, available records, and any new evidence. Patriot Raw may contact the requester, writer, quoted parties, or relevant institutions. A request does not guarantee a change, but it should receive fair consideration.
Minor Corrections
Spelling, grammar, formatting, broken links, or similar edits that do not materially change meaning may be fixed without a formal note. If a minor error could confuse a reasonable reader, a brief correction note may be added.
Major Corrections
When an error materially affects the central facts, headline, conclusion, identification of a person, or fairness of a report, the article should be corrected and a visible note should explain what was wrong and what changed. The note should not repeat sensitive information unnecessarily.
Updated Timestamps
Articles should display both a published timestamp and an updated timestamp when substantive changes are made. A timestamp alone is not a substitute for a correction note when a significant error has been corrected.
Editor’s Notes
An editor’s note may explain substantial new context, a legal development, a dispute over evidence, a reporting-method concern, or an editorial decision that readers need in order to understand the article.
Retractions
Retraction may be appropriate when the central reporting is fundamentally unreliable, fabricated, unlawfully obtained in a manner that makes continued publication inappropriate, or impossible to correct adequately. A retracted page should ordinarily remain available with a clear retraction notice unless legal, privacy, or safety concerns require removal.
No Silent Removal of Significant Errors
Patriot Raw should not quietly rewrite or remove a significant factual error in a way that hides the original problem. Correction, editor’s-note, and retraction language should be direct and understandable.
Corrections Link on Articles
Every article template should include a visible Corrections link leading to the Contact Us correction channel. This link will be added during the article-template implementation phase, which requires a separate theme change and preview.
Appeals
If a requester believes a correction decision overlooked material evidence, the requester may submit one concise appeal identifying the missing evidence or reasoning.
